Expo forging links with community council

Following a meeting of the Scotland’s Housing Expo Community Liaison Group.

Scotland’s Housing Expo forged stronger links with the local community this week following a meeting of the Scotland’s Housing Expo Community Liaison Group.

The Expo’s team met with members of the Inverness South Community Council and Councillor John Holden at Inshes Church on Monday, 30 November. The second since the liaison group was created in September, meetings aim to create regular dialogue between the Expo team, local ward councillors and the community by providing information and updates on the housing development and plans for the event itself.

Due to take place throughout August 2010, Scotland’s Housing Expo will be the UK’s first ever housing fair, showcasing the best of Scottish architecture and design, and placing Scotland firmly at the forefront of European housing design. The Expo event will focus upon 55 cutting edge sustainable houses designed by the cream of Scottish architecture.

Bob Roberts, the Community Council’s Panning Secretary, attended the meeting. He said: “The Group enjoyed a full and frank discussion about the development and future plans for the event. Great progress is being made and we are all looking forward to a successful Expo in Milton of Leys in 2010.”

Chair of Scotland’s Housing Expo, Councillor Jean Urquhart said: “We firmly believe that community involvement is an important part of the project to create Scotland’s Housing Expo. The creation of the Community Liaison Group allows us to update members on its progress and address any local issues as they arise.”
