SCOTLAND’S HOUSE PRICES REVEALED TO EXPO VISITORS

Visitors to Scotland’s Housing Expo this August will be able to find out about the latest house sale prices on their doorstep from Registers of Scotland (RoS).

An online house price search is just one of the public services that this Government body will be promoting at the month-long Expo. RoS is responsible for the nation’s land and property ownership registers called the General Register of Sasines and the Land Register.

The RoS promotional vehicle has appeared at various events across the country and will be on-site at Scotland’s Housing Expo at Milton of Leys in Inverness from the 17 until 19 August to highlight its products, particularly its free online house price search, which allows you to search any address in Scotland.

RoS also produce the official government statistics on house price data. According to their latest 28 day release the average sale price of a house in the Highlands has increased by 1.9%. The number of sales have also increased compared to the month before from 254 to 264*.In the last year the average house price has fallen by 0.5% from £154,375 to £153, 572 while the number of sales has increased from 3,333 to 3453**.

Head of Commercial Services at RoS, Kenny Crawford said: “We see Scotland’s Housing Expo as the perfect platform to continue our campaign to highlight the services we provide to the public. Our promotional vehicle travels across Scotland throughout the year as an information and outreach service.

“Since we started promoting the free online house price search our website hits have increased by 25% demonstrating the information we hold is of real interest and value to the public and that Expo visitors will want to know more.”

Chair of the Board for Scotland’s Housing Expo, Jean Urquhart said: “Given the public’s continuing interest in the property market Registers of Scotland’s involvement is a great benefit to our programme and I’m positive visitors to the Expo will be very keen to learn more about the agency’s free house price facility and other services.”

Scotland’s Housing Expo takes place at Milton of Leys, Inverness off the A9 from 1-31 August. To find out more information about RoS and its services log on to www.ros.gov.uk.
