Highland Council's Housing and Property Service has the largest design practice located in the Highlands area, operating from a number of locations as a multi-disciplinary consultancy. The Service provides a full range of architectural services on new build and refurbishment projects, including schools, social work buildings, fire and housing projects among others, as well as energy management, repair and maintenance services for the Council's substantial property portfolio.
The Service is developing a design culture appropriate to the Highland context, with particular reference to local building materials, crafts and traditions, and is applying their use in a contemporary way with a particular emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability.
